I'm a Seattle-based senior product and UX designer. I've developed a practice that brings together visual design, research, and systems thinking to make complex experiences intuitive. I leverage research and human-centered design because design that works for people works for business.

AWS : Knowledge Discovery at scale

AI | Design Leadership | Mixed-Method Research | 0 → 1

Software engineers, my primary user at AWS, rarely arrive at a product in an exploratory state of mind. They're blocked on a critical problem or need to learn something new, fast. My job was designing knowledge discovery experiences that unblocked them.

At AWS, I was the UX designer for Knowledge Tech, the team responsible for the products software engineers use to find and surface knowledge across their entire build cycle. Those products included Internal Search, Sage, Wiki, Broadcast, and Sage+ (Gen AI).

Research was central to my work. I used foundational insights across products to make sure we were solving the right problems, and continued monitoring experiences to ensure we were meeting user needs over time. Research examples available upon request.

Sage+: Generative AI for Knowledge Discovery

The Knowledge Tech team built their own LLM-powered service to help engineers find and surface knowledge faster. I was the sole UX designer, building the experience from the ground up across five surfaces over two years, from research and concept through delivery and ongoing validation.

TechSurvey: Improving the Annual Survey Experience

Mixed-Method Research | Data Visualization | Org-wide impact

TechSurvey is the annual voluntary survey for software engineers across AWS and Amazon. I ran the qualitative research that reshaped the program and designed the analytics report managers use to act on their results, work with org-wide reach that is still influencing the program three years later.

Wiki: Custom Homepage

Research | 0 → 1 Feature | AI | Personalization

The Wiki team was modernizing its core pages. Research showed the homepage was underutilized and only served as an access point for search. I designed a customizable, widget-based homepage that gave engineers control over their knowledge discovery experience and brought Sage+ AI to a surface they visit every day.

Independent practice | Pre-2022

Before my focused role at AWS, I ran my own design business, working across industries with clients including Amazon. That work is documented on my website, including a project for the Amazon checkout pipeline.
